Highlights from the BBM Youth Economic Empowerment Summit

2013 BBM Youth Economic Empowerment Summit, March 30, 2013

“Inspired by the past, prepared for the present and excited about the future” are youth 12-21 from churches across metropolitan Atlanta who attended the Youth Economic Empowerment Summit on Saturday, March 30 at the First Iconium Baptist Church in Decatur. This is all because, in a character-building environment, Operation HOPE shared information on the basics of banking, credit and investments.

Operation HOPE gives people the dignity, resources and the opportunity to achieve a level of self-determination in their lives. Operation HOPE is “the private banker to the working poor, the underclass, and the struggling middle class,” and the impact of their work is felt everywhere they operate. Their mission is ‘silver rights,’ or making free enterprise and capitalism work for all.  Financial literacy is the tool, financial dignity is the goal and financial inclusion is the way.   Most impressive, are the results they bring about!!

The Black clergy of Atlanta have decided that each child in their church will have at least $250 in the bank instead of just $250 in the tennis shoes they wear.
